Our Mission
& Vision

Committed to providing a community of support to police members and their families, through resources that will provide education, peer support and practical tools to enable families to thrive in their roles as the support system for their police member.

“Let me start off by saying thank you. It is critical to the health and wellbeing of our officers that they have strong support structures in place. I know it is not easy for families of officers, the toll that shift work takes on missed holidays and family events. I support you, your families, and our officers who do a tremendous job day in and day out.”

Roger Chaffin

Past CPS Chief

“Do you know how long I have wished there was more support for TPS families?! It’s a daily struggle being the spouse of an officer without anyone that really understands how it feels. I am so thankful this exists now!”

What Sets Us Apart?

Canada Beyond The Blue is a peer-led, non-profit organization with Chapters across the nation. BTB is dedicated to strengthening and supporting families of law enforcement officers in Canada. We strive to promote an awareness of our service member’s worth as well as an understanding of the joys and struggles that are uniquely experienced in life in law enforcement.

Spouses and children of law enforcement members face a unique set of circumstances that lends itself to the need for education, emotional support, better awareness, training, and tools to enable families to thrive, not just survive.

Mental health resources and support systems for families are often not recognized by the existing benefit programs of police services, nor are there proactive programs that empower families to identify signs of OSI, PTSD and other on the job stressors that can plague our community. Each BTB Chapter is tasked with coordinating resources that aid in offering education, training & practical tools to law enforcement families and fostering a community of support for the enrichment of family life.

While we strive to collaborate with the police services and associations in a given location, BTB Chapters must remain independently operated in order to best serve our community.

A BTB Chapter can fill the gap in family support without burdening the service with this task.

Canada BTB and its Chapters are run by volunteers who are family members of law enforcement officers/civilian members and this vested interest drives their passion and dedication. Chapter funding comes largely from donations, sponsorships, fundraising initiatives as well as the police service and member’s association in each location.
